Posted in the clubhouse last week, the huge plan drawing shows how the course hopes to use the addition’s farm land purchased by membership approval last year. According to club president John Taylor, a representative from Golf Design will be in Terrace soon to walk the course with the Plan of Progress committee and interested individual club mem- bers. "At this time the only cost factor for the club is $8,000 for hiring Golf Design," Taylor stated in a letter to members. "The course tour is to discuss the architect’s plans and any problems that may arise such as environmental concerns, water supply, soil conditions and other areas of interest." Taylor said no final costs are available as the layout plan ts only a concept and hasn’t been approved or finalized. The exact date for the design company’s rep to tour the course will be posted soon. On the plan drawing, the course is laid out for 6,525 yards. It includes four par-five holes at numbers five, eight, 10 and 13. There are also five par-three holes at numbers three, six, 12, 14 The Scores Are... Chiron Kantakis crossed the - finish line first in a time of one hour, five minutes. Colin Parr took second place about two min- utes behind Kantakis. race Prizes of bike equipment went to the top placers. . According one of the competitors the course. was extremely rough with lots of bumps and ruts. Both Kantakis and Parr viewed the Kitimat race as a warm-up for this Sunday’s Skeena River Chal- lenge race from Prince Rupert to Terrace. New concept for master bowlers Contributed by Dorothy Alway A few years ago, Doug and Marg Mumford, formerly of Terrace and now owners of Mission Valley Lanes, Mission B.C., realized that the Master Bowlers Association were losing many of their more competitive and experienced members because as they became older, they felt they were no longer able to compete with the younger age group, many of whom they had actually taught to bowl. So, as in many other sports, Doug and Marg came up with the idea of a series of competitions for the over-50 age group. There are now about 28 members in Vancouver and they have been running competitions between themselves for the last three years, These have proved to be very successful. Now they feel it is time to expand across B.C. and across Canada. Three Terrace masters who have competed with the Vancouver Masters, Les and Dorothy Alway (Teaching Masters) and Cy Renney (Tournament Master) travelled with the B.C. contingent to Winnipeg for the first ever Senior Masters National Finals held in July. Manitoba, Saskatchewan and B.C. each entered two teams. The results were Manitoba first with B.C. ‘A’ team second. Everyone involved had a great - time and the other provinces all felt it was a good idea worth following. We feel sure that the 1992 National finals will have representative senior Master teams from across Canada. This was the first time the B.C. Senior Masters have competed in the National finals. We are now officially recognized by the National Bowling Federation of Canada, and we look forward to being joined by Senior Masters from the other provinces in Victoria in 1992. B.C. will of course be represented, Qualifying games for this tournament will be held here in the North for any past of present Tournament of Teaching Master over the age of 50 who may wish to participate.
