Lee Theatre May 16th, sponsored by Northwest Development Education. The Trial of Kicking Bear is a ‘two-act, one-man show based on the life of Kicking Bear, an Olala warrior chief instrumental in the Ghost Dance Movement of 1890. Kicking Bear lived in a time of transition, a time between freedom and subjugation. It was a time when the philosophy of the white and the Indian conflicted, There was no room for compromise in the philosophy of the whites. Manifest destiny would run its course. The Indian way of life would come to an inevitable end. The Trial of Kicking Bear is the story of one man’s struggle to save a way of life destined to vanish. Michael C.
