Ronald Reagan now has enough delegates to win the Republican. presidential nomination, according to a United Press International count. ; Other news organizations have ‘different delegate tallies but two television networks, CBS and ABC, - reported. Reagan had«the nomination last Tuesday. The Associated Press still had Reagan well short of the 998 delegates needed for the nomination. . After Saturday's state conventions in Kansas and Vermont, the UPI count for Reagan was 1,001. The AP _ count was about 80 short of the nomination. On the Democratic ‘ide, prior to Saturday's caucus selection, UPI gave President Carter 1,561 of the 1,664 delegates needed for the nomination. He now has 1,564. AP gave him 1,408. Delegates won in primaries and state and congressional district conventions are included in the UPI count. Also included are delegates to be awarded ‘later this spring in ‘con- ventions controlled . by Reagan backers already . elected at local and county Caucuses, ., The wire service counts are virtually identical in prirnary states because both are members of the News Election Service, which counta primary votes. © But in Louisiana, Mlinois, New York ‘and Pennsylvania — where there were un- comfnitted GOP delegates picked in primaries — UPT finds, 33 more ‘Reagan delegates — based on polls of the preferences of individual delegates and state party leaders.
