TERRACE — Hikers with the
Terrace Hiking Club have plan-
ned a series of fall day treks.
_ The group usually meets at
the library Sunday mornings to
car pool. Everyone is welcome.
Their calendar of hikes for
the coming weeks includes:
> @ Oct, 20 — Shames Moun-
tain Hike in alpine near new skj
area 20 miles west of Terrace.
Moderate uphill walk. Shannon

_ © Oct. 27 — Trapline Moun-
tain Hike in-area about 14 miles
up’ the Copper River logging
road. Meet.at library at 10 a.m.

This can be a long or short
walk, as the road (7 miles) is
driveable all the way, Very pret-
ty at the top with jarge lakes and
views. May be some.new snow
at top.

* Nov. 3 — Watson Lakes
Good, easy trip for beginner
hikers and kids aged 4 or 5.
Drive 37 miles east of Terrace
on Hwy16 and a quarter mile up
old road. Climb up good trail to
first lake; then rolling another
mile to two other small lakes.
Pretty area. Meet at library at

Lakes Easy walk around two
nice lakes. Some windfall and a
short muddy. section, Twelve
miles south ‘of Terrace on
highway. Meet at library at 10

Sept. 7-8. On Sept. 15 five par-
ticipated in trip around Red
Rose. Mine. Sept. 22 trip was
rained out. About 20 people
went on a Sept, 29 expedition
on Sleeping Beauty Mountain:
It was a cloudy day, but much
enjoyed anyway.
