; «COUNT | MAY 22 1973 TO: Mayor & Aldermen May 18th, 1973 FROM: Building & Protection Committee Minutes of the Building & Protection Committee meeting held May 17th, 1973 In Attendance: Alderman E.W. Mabbett W.S. Wingrove, Fire Chief N. Chernoff, Building Inspector K.J. Stinson, Planning Officer. Item I Re: Street Naming On December 13th, 1972 the Street Naming Committee recommended the names attached. All the names were appreved by Council. I was informed since that resolution, that a corresponding name in the District to Meadow Lark and Cartier Avenue is in use. Council also rejected the St. Thomas Place North and St. Thomas Place South suggestion. The situation on Victoria Drive name change was compounded by those presently living on Victoria Drive who requested to retain their property addresses. A change of address would cause a great deal of inconvenience in that credit card changes, drivers license changes, ete. would be required. It would then seem appropriate to designate that portion of Victoria’ Drive running from Coast Meridian East to Victoria Drive on the northern boundary of the City as Victoria Drive North and further that a special sign be posted at the two intersections on the City side which would clarify the address numbering. A suggestion of Magellan Avenue may be appropriate as an alternate name for Cartier Avenue which is presently being used by the District, Committee Comments: After considering the various alternatives, the Committee decided that Victoria Drive should be named Victoria Drive North. This would be section running from Coast Meridian to the intersection of Victoria Drive along the north- ern boundary of the City. Again in light of the duplication of Cartéer Avenue in the District, the Committee suggest that Magellan Avenue may be an appropriate alternative. Recommendation: The Committee recommends that Victoria Drive along the Northern boundary of the City from Coast Meridian east of Victoria Drive be renamed to Victoria Drive North and that Cartier Avenue, as originally submitted by revised to Magellan Avenue. item IL Re: Firehall Site - North Side The Committee discussed the proposal as earlier submitted to Council and approved of the Lincoln and Coast Meridian site. As Council is aware, this area was recently dedicated under Ecolopical Reserve Area and it is unknown by this Committee whether the intention to allow this area for future fire hall lo- cation is still intended. Clarification of this site is desirable at this time
