Follock, Cliy Administrator GC 0 U 44 SAW 151972 TO: Mayor and Council DATE: January 11, 1973 an hee ome am oe On oe we nen May Day Celebrations 1973 Af a special :ommittee meeting held on Thursday, December 28, 1972 Counci! agreed to engage the services of a co~ordinator in order to continue the traditional May Day celebrations for 1973. This action was prompted by the letter from the chairman of the May Day Committee advising that they were unable to elect an executive for 1973. The minutes of this meeting have been circulated to Council Member: however, for the benefit of the press and the public, Council members were introduced to Mr. Lee Kallen, a professiona) entertainer and one who has been involved in organizing many civic celebrations including the New Westminster May Bay. Council expresses the hope that engaging the co-ordinator will take the administrative load that was the chief burden to the previous executive members of the May Day Committee. I also hope that the many local organizations that participate in May Day will continue as in past yeare in order to make the 1973 celebrations a success. A resolution of Council would be in order appointing Mr. Lee Kallen as co-ordinator of May Day activities as discussed with him at the committee meeting of Council Decemver 28, 1972, 2. U.B.C.M.
