The New View Society are presently using space in the Dalkey Building and have asked the Council to, consider making the property conmoaly known as 'PoCo House’ available for their use. The Committee does not feel that it would be appropriate to remove paying Council has, in the past, ived similar requests, all of which have been turned down and it would not-be at this time to consider the New View Society as a priority need. The Committee lso expressed the view that although the City has made space availabte to the New View Society, we have never been in involved in finaneing the group and that sistance should more thao likely be coming from the Provincial Government rather a han the Municipal level. The Comittee cannot recommend approval of this request. Western Association for Youth, c/o Viscount Alexander Elecentary School, 3250 Flint Street, : Port Coquitlaa, 3. C. March 7th, 1977. Mayor Jack Campbell City Hall, “ 2272 McAllister Street, Port Coquitlam, 3B. ¢, Dear Jack: Re: Relocating the New View Society I would like to request that the Hew View Society be relocated at Poco House. The request seems only reasonable as the society is cur- rently operating under appalling conditions at the Dalkey Building. 4s an educator, I find it quite ludicrous to think that people released from Riverview can find their way back into the mainstream of society under such conditions. The Poco House, on the other hand, offers a marvellous opportunity to provice ‘cdividual programmes in an environment conducive to sound meutal health. . I propose that the New View Society be given possession of the front portion of the house and the rear section be rented out to pay for the property and provide some security in the evenings. I would like to meet with yourself and the council to discuss the issue and see if we cen work something out. In the meantine, I hope to meet individually with each council member to explain and discuss the issue more fully. Sincerely yours, t Ste clr pnp Dons,” HacDonald, B Ed. HeAs President, .
