August 3rd, 1976 The City Clerk advised that a By-law to amend the City's Business Licence By-law by establishing the classification "Automobile Self- Service Station' in order to permit the Council to review applications for business licence for same as a control device, has been approved by the City Solicitor and is available for first three readings at this time. Alderman Laking introduced a By-law to amend the"City of Port Coquitlam Business License By-law, 1973, No. 1237", Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay; That By-law No. 1456 be read a first time. Carried. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, Aldermen Keryluk and Mabbett questioned the need of such a provision and why an application for business licence would be deait with by the Council and the City Administrator advised that further to the decision of the Council at its March 22nd, 1976 meeting to establish a limit on the number of self- service gas stations in the City to 20% of the total number of gas a4tiou outlets in the City, it was not legally possible to establish this limit by By~law other than to regulate at the time of licence application in this manner.
