Kirkbride, Dear Sir: on RE:. .Coquitlam.River.Bridge.-.B.C. Department .of Highways. Reference is made to your letter dated April 9, 1974 and attached drawing No. 1273- 15 regarding the subject. I wish to advise that the Coquitlam River is utilized by salmon and steelhead trout for spawning and rearing purposes; therefore, to ensure that the fisheries resource is not adversely affected, I request that all work be subject to the following conditions:- (1) All work within the wetted perimeter of the Coquitlam River shall be undertaken oniy during the period May Ist to September Ist of any year. (2) Disturbance of natural streambanks shall be kept to an absolute minimum and work snall be undertaken in a manner which will minimize the amount of silt released into the stream. (3) The natural configuration of the streambed within the normal high water wetted perimeter of the stream, shall not be disturbed unless it is absolutely necessary for the construction of the bridge pier and abutments. (4) Gravel shall not be removed from within the high water wetted _ perimeter of the Coquitlam River without obtaining prior approval from this office.
