MADE IN CLAY Spring Sale (April 29. 30, May i) Update It is hard to believe that this is the last article before the MADE IN CLAY sale. For those of you who could not make it to the last All-Participants Meeting you should have received an envelope by mail containing information and advertizing material, [f you don't have it by now, please contact Cathi at 929-9175 right away. Everyone should have the following: Unloading Schedule/Don't Forget to Bring List, How to Label Four Pats, 3 Inventory Sheets (remember we need them in triplicate) 4dvertizing paster, flyers, and direct mailers. Please make sure you blitz your area with the advertizing and send the direct mailers to your customers so everyone will come to the sale. The banner (to be put at the entrance to Granville Island) is being made thanks to the money earned at the Raku demo's at ArtQuake. Thanks to Brent Gloeckner,. If you can help further with any advertizing please contact Heather at 985-1779, The “Map and Directory” and signage for every person in each booth are currently being made. Remember to get your CV, business cards, special care instructions, or any other relevant information to Celta Rice-Jones ASAP so she can have a chance to put together a professional looking package for us, If you are using drapery in your booth remember it must be treated with a fire retardant. Coit Drapery and Carpet Cleaners will treat your fabric for a cost of 50-75 cents’sq. ft. It will take about a week, Contact Brent at Coit: 437-8814. Next, | have a request, we are planning to use fresh flowers and large branches/limbs for decorations. [fyou can contribute some containers (seconds would be great), ! would much appreciate it. Some last minute good news about parking. Thanks to Sue Griese, and Anita Sharpe at ECCAD, we will have access to some parking at a reasonable rate. Each booth will he able to purchase a $9 3-day pass for a parking space either at Emily Carr College which is on Granville Island or their parking lot at Ist and Fir. Purchase your April 1994 pass at the Sale between 12 - | p.m. on Friday the 29th during set-up. The Nanaimo Arts Council is really behind this project as well and their expertise and diligence is greatly appreciated, Environmental permits have been paid for and approved and the certificate ts forthcoming, When they assessed the plans for the kiln they felt there would be fewer smoke emissions than would normally come from a backyard bonfire. We will be able to have up to six firings per year. Any individual member or Guild membership will have access to this kiln. individual memberships are $10 per year and Guild memberships are $100 per year, A "Buy a Brick" campaign for $5 is underway and if you would like to buy or sell some “brick" tickets please contact Maureen Beardsley at 245-4867. The major work task that is next is to do with BRICKS, Crane has generously donated all the bricks from their 250 ft long car kiln. We hope to be dismantling the kiln in May and we need lots of help for this. Please cal! me at 929-9175 if you want te help. Also let me know if you can billet people helping. We also need a second forklift or pallet jack. The cooperation and positive energy that this project is generating makes it an endeavour not to be missed. | hope you will become a participant in building this Tozan kiln. only the third of its kind in the world.
