Mr. Keryluk advised he would be attending Budget meetings and invited members of the Public to attend. Alderman Muldoon addressed the meeting and advised she served on Alderman - Muldoon the Environmental Protection Committee with Alderman Gates and stated Port Coquitlam was one of the few municipalities who had put a ban on pesticides for one year to carry out further study regarding harmful chemicals and referred to studies being carried out to prevent silting in the Coquitlam River to encourage more salmon spawning and the need to establish recycling methods. Alderman Muldoon stated the City now begins afresh with a new Mayor, Administrator and Director of Planning, and stated she welcomes their input into the Community and invited the people's input as well.. Alderman Muldoon referred to the proposed changes for the downtown core and mentioned the proposal for a 21-storey apartment. Alderman Muldoon stated as this is the Year of the Handicapped she hoped that City Hall would be accessible to the handicapped in the near future. Alderman Wright addressed the meeting and advised he was the City's Alderman Wright representative on the Fraser Valley Regional Library Board as well as Vice-Chairman of the Board and referred to the growth of the library in the last 12 months and that the cost per capita for library service is amongst the lowest in B.C. and mentioned the reciprocal. borrowing arrangements with Coquitlam and Richmond libraries and the recently introduced non-resident fee to facilitate people in other areas.
