March 17th, 1975 From the Public Works Committee, March 14th, 1975, recommending that a pedestrian crosswalk be estalished across Western Drive from the South side of Elinor Crescent; further, that approximately 50 feet of sidewalk be constructed on the South side of Elinor Crescent West from Western Drive at an estimated cost of $500.00. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That as recommended in a report from the Public Works Committee, March 14th, 1975, a pedestrian crosswalk be established across Western Drive from the South side of Elinor Crescent; further, that approximately 50 feet of sidewalk be constructed on the South side of Elinor Crescent West from Western Drive at an estimated cost of $500.00. Alderman Ranger then mentioned that a report from the City Engineer, March 14th, 1975, concerning the Garbage Disposal By~law, had been received and stated he felt the report should be discussed now. Alderman Keryluk raised a point of order and suggested that the report should be discussed next week as he had no information that it would be dealt with at tonight's meeting and also in view of the fact that Aldermen Laking and Thompson were absent. Alderman Traboulay suggested that the absence of Council members should not deter those present from discussing the report, and that he had received the report in plenty of time to read it and was prepared to discuss it. Mayor Campbell, however, agreed with Alderman Keryluk as he stated that financing was involved and he thought all Council members should be present. It was generally agreed that che report would be discussed but no action taken on the recommendations contained therein, and that the report be re-submitted to Council for further discussion. Alderman Ranger reviewed the recommendations contained in the City Engineer's report and a general discussion ensued. During the course of the discussion the following resolution was proposed: Moved by Alderman Keryluk: seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That the Public Works Committee be requested to contact several private firms to obtain cost figures on private pick-up of garbage, particularly bulk garbage from business concerns in the city. Carried. Aldermen Ranger and Mabbett voted against the resolution. /3. P/Wks.Comn. re X/Wk. & S/Wk.~SS Elinor Cres Ald. Ranger ~City Eng. Report re Garbage Dis. B/law, etc
