THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF RICHMOND

VOTER QUALIFICATIONS MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS

WHEREAS the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the
Township of Richmond endorses the democratic
principle of "one person -~ one vote"

BE IT RESOLVED

that the Government of British Columbia be
requested to repeal that section of the
Municipal Act (Section 36) that permits non
resident property owners to vote in Municipal
Elections.

VOTER QUALZFICATIONS MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS

WHEREAS the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the
Township of Richmond endorses the democratic
principle of “one person - one vote"

BE IT RESOLVED

that the Government of British Columbia be
requested to repeal those sections of the
Municipal Act that permit tenants in occupation
of land to vote in Municipal Elections (Bill 54
final reading August 22, 1980, yet to be
proclaimed )
