HOME COMPOSTING Deleaations from David Hunter 8'c Art Knano ITEM lit — Two home composting proposals were rliscussed with the Garden Centres. The first proposal involved set up of a demonstration garden. The City would provide several different composters to the Garden Centres along with some informational material. The Garden Centres would then operate the demonstration garden on their premises and have a resource person on staff to handle questions from residents. The second home compost option presented involved the Garden Centres purchasing City approved home composters and marketing them to residents. The City would reimburse the Garden Centres for a portion of the cost of the composters that are sold. It was unclear whether a Government Grant would be obtainable for this type of program. The Project Engineer will investigate the budget for both of the above options. The Ministry of Environment will also be consulted to determine if the second option is eligible for government funding. Another meeting with the Garden Centres is to be scheduled after this has been completed. I'he OTHER BUSINESS ITEM 111: Project Engineer was asked to provide Aldermen Talbot and Keryluk with written confimxation of their attendance at the Pitch-in Week Meeting on Saturday, April 27th.
