CORRESPONDENCE & REPORTS FOR INFORMATION: From the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, July 5th, 1976 being the June 1976 Municipal Policing Report. Alderman Traboulay referred to the overtime report attached thereto and noted that there had been no reply to date from the Attorney-General's Department in this regard and suggested that some of the charges were due to officers being called for Court appearances on their days off and then, due to the present judicial process, sitting in Court for two or three days before being called to testify, thus unnecessarily increasing overtime costs. Alderman Keryluk noted the numbers of adults being charged with Narcotic offences and suggested that this indicated a reversal of the trend in past years and that credit was due the young people (juveniles) for this apparent change in attitude. The report was then received for information. From the Planning Officer, July 18th, 1976 being a report, as requested by the Council, of the residential building permits issued during 1975 and 1976 based on the 'sector' system and advising that to June 30th, 1976 the number of permits had been - West 52; East 49; and South 52; for a total of 153 while in 1975 there had been a total of 249 single family and 216 multiple units issued broken down to West 136 single family, 43 multiple; East 57 single family, 130 multiple; and South 56 single family and 43 multiple. During discussion of the report Alderman Laking advised that the target figure (set in 1974) had been West 150 per year; Easc 50 per year; and South 100 per year; and Alderman Ranger suggested that these figures be reviewed with a view to being upgraded. Alderman Laking advised that the Planning and Zoning Committee were presently studying the figures and reviewing the limits presently in effect. The report was then received for information.
