May 28th, 1979. Prior to the question being called on the foregoing resolution Alderman Mabbett advised there is a time element to consider as in order for the Port Coquitlam Old Timers Hockey Association to be successful with their tournament they must finalize the details so they can send out the invitations to other teams as soon as possible. Alderman Ranger expressed his concern regarding the rental fee proposed. Discussion ensued. Alderman Laking spoke in favour of the tournament and stated in his opinion the details should be decided upon so the Port Coquitlam Old Timers Hockey Association could proceed with setting up their tournament. Alderman Keryluk stated in his opinion the tournament should be referred to the Leisure Activities Committee for further study. Alderman Wright spoke in favour of referring the tournament to the Leisure Activities sheteint AISASEN HE we a me teen nar en a NRE le CN Committee and stated he would like to see rates set down for commercial tournaments so there would not be a need for discussion of prices when requests were received. Alderman Ranger provided a price breakdown of the rental amounts which would be received and the amount of ice time to be used. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the request from the Port Coquitlam Old Timers Hockey Association, May 15th, 1979 for permission to host an invitational tournament during the perlod of September 20th to 23rd, 1979, be approved; THAT the total cost be $3,180.00 calculated at $30.00 per hour per arena; SPELT Rig OER To NUL a atte enccate AND THAT the Mabbett Room, Concession Area and Main Ticket Office be included in the total cost. Carried. Aldermen Laking and Keryluk voted against the resolution. Moved by Alderman Wright: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That $30.00 per hour per arena be the standard rate for adult tournaments. Prier to the question being called on the foregoing resolution Alderman Traboulay asked that the decision to set a standard rate of $30.00 per hour per arena for adult tournaments be referred to the Leisure Activities Committee for further study.
