Land Use Committee... Mar. 26, 1986 3.5 Como Lake Connector Uraft Plan - The map shows a proposed connector crossing the Coquitlam River in the vicinity of Wilson Avenue and Beresford Street in the City. Comment - While the Como Lake Connector is not of. benefit to Coquitlam, the District recognizes its importance to Port Coquitlam. However, the specific location of a bridge across the Coquitlam River requires further study, NORTHEAST COQUITLAM DRAFT COMMUNITY PLAN I note that we will be submitting our draft Community Plan for North- east Coquitlam to the City in the near future. Our draft Plan, under transportation policies in the long term, contains the following policy statements: l. Council, in co-operation with the appropriate Provincial Mintstries, will consider the construction of crossings of the Coquitlam River at David Avenue and Lincoln Avenue, when warranted by population growth, to improve access from Northeast Coquitlam to the Town Centre. This will include noise attenuation measures where new crossings are adjacent to existing residential areas. 2. Council will pursue co-operation with Port Coquitlam to improve traffic capacity from Northeast Coquitlam to the Lougheed “Highway along Shaughnessy Street, Oxford Street, Coast Meridian Road, and Fremont Street, when warranted by population growth, 3. Prior to development at urban densities in Northeast Coquitlam, Councit will give consideration to what other arterial and collector links, in addition to those to be protected in the short run, will be necessary to support such urban development. Recommendation I suggest the Committee recommend: "That Council respond to the City of Port Coquitlam's referral of draft Bylaw No. 2162, Plan Policies Community Plan Schedules 'A' and 'B', ‘by endorsing the comments in the ISSUES section of the Planning Director's report of March 26, 1986, and authorize staff to forward a copy of that report to Port Coquitlam's Counci1."
