THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor and Council June 14th, 1978 FROM: F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer : Re: Purchase of Riding Mower for Parks Department ‘The City has in it's budget the sum of $12,000.00 for the purchase of a riding mower. Four tenders were received as summarized on the attached recap. It is unfortunate that only one of the tenders meets’ our requirements. The lowest tender from B.M.E. Supply is for a garden type tractor which cannot meet our requirements for turning and which has a trailer mounted attachment which is unacceptable for our type of operation which requires a consid- erable amount of backing up and tight turns. Fallis Turf pro- vides a tractor which is close to our specifications but which has a very poor arrangement for the grass catcher compactor which is mounted in such a way that all the weight of the grass which is picked up is carried on a single rear wheel. which is also the steering wheel. This, coupled with a wheel base which is narrower than our specifications call for, could result in unstability and poor traction on the drive-wheels whenever the grass catcher is loaded. The tractor from Taylor, Pearson is unacceptable because it does not have a vacuum catcher or com- pactor. . : . é f ‘ t ? 3 j vi y : k ‘ $ 4 t ‘ © * We therefore recommend the purchase cf the Hustler Tractor from Multi-Turf complete with compactor catcher and dozer. blade and with rollover protection canopy for the total price including tax of $11,707.50.
