throughout the Province. Alderman Mabbett advised that Mr. J.D. MacFarlan,

President of the B.C. Teachers Federation, had stated that if the pupil-

teacher ratio reduction program had continued as set out this year, it

would have cost the Provincial Government between $30,000,000. to

$35,000,000., and would have required the hiring of approximately 1,500

more teachers.
