THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM OUNC] AUG 16 1982 MEMORANDUM TO: B. Kirk, July 21, 1982 City Administrator FROM: F.E. Peters., P. Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: Street Lighting - Public Works Committee - July 20th, 1982 RECOMMENDATION: That street lighting not be extended in the vicinity of Fraser and Flint Street at this time: BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: The Committee has received a request for additional street lighting on Fraser Avenue between Flint and Cambridge Streets. In viewing the area surrounding this requested street light, it is apparent that there are number of lights required on both Fraser as well as Manning and Grant Avenues between Shaughnessy Street and York Street. It would not make much sense to put up the two lights that are needed in the requested block without also considering the other thirteen lights that are needed in the area. We would doubtless get additional requests for-them anyway as soon as the first block was lit. Under normal circumstances, the Public Works Committee would simply authorize B.C. Hydro to install lights at the necessary locations as the costs of these come out of the maintenance budget rather than capital budget. However, in view of the obvious restraints required next year, the Committee does not feel it wise to add an annual cost of about $2,000 to our 8.C. Hydro street light bill. P. Eng.,
