NORTHWEST CERAMICS FOUNDATION Sponsoring Suzanne Greenaway and continued fund raising The Northwest Ceramics Foundation is busy finding ways to disperse funds recently raised at the From the Oven and Kiln event in October 1999. We are sponsoring Suzanne Greenaway to come to Vancouver and give a lecture at the Canadian Clay Symposium. Contributing to such 2 signifpeant educational event and banging ceramic artists together is important to the Foundation, Due to the success we expenenced last year, the WWCP has decided to continue our partnership with the Adult Learning Development Association (ALDA) for this fall's From the Oven and Kiln dinner. Hopefully we will be able to repeat or better last year’s fund raising record. Regretlully the Odd Fellows Society declined our application to purchase Made of Clay books from the Potters Guild, but we are currently looking for other ways to support the book project. Also a reminder that WN WCF encourages anyone Who needs funding to attend a ceramics workshop or lecture to apply for the Maureen Wright Scholarship. This fund disperses grants up to $200; applications are accepted anytime. Please contact the Potters Guild for details. Julia Meike MADE OF CLAY allocation of space finalized, only three spaces left The draw for booth and island allocation for our Made of Clay show occurred February 14, Atthe time of writing, there are three spaces available. For further information please refer to the application forms and my articles in the January and February newsletters. You can also contact Jane Matthews or me. Our numbers are listed on the back page of this newsletter, It is encouraging that so many of the prior exhibitors have registered. One half of the applications for booths are from last year’s participants. This indicwtes the success of Made of Clay, not only in terms of generating sales dunng the event but also continued benefits accruing from the increased exposure. Notice of booth and island allocations will be mailed to all applicants within the next few weeks as well as detailed information on setup times, show lours, helpful hints on matenals, parking, credit card transactions and other relevant information. Weare pleased that the Fraser Valley Potters Guild will once again demonstrate throwing and trimming as well as generally providing information to the public. Combine that with the You Too Can Raku event, a major draw and crowd pleaser as well as revenue proxtucer for the Chuild, and it is easy to see that this is a major event for Granville Island. Once again, we request volunteers for our information table in the Market during the full week of this event. See page 8 and 9 for more details.
