vag! “Rann 1 me cog . ae Churches united in faith By Pastor Terry Simonson Christ Lutheran Church RECENTLY a number of people in Terrace shared a wonderful ex- perience: we celebrated the “Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.”” Most people in the city probably didn’t notice that anything special was happening, ‘But every day two weeks ago — Sunday through Sunday — people came together for a worship ser- vice to celebrate Christian unity, People from many different churches came together, saw friends and neighbours from other churches, met some new people, and discovered that we are all one _ — through faith in Jesus Christ. We took part in worship ser- View Point Vices, conducted in the style of the hosting congregation, We experi- enced that worship is like in other congregations, And we came to appreciate thal, in spite of many differences, we have very much in common. We are all God’s people in Jesus. We are all members of onc body — the Body of Christ. I hope you were there to be a part of this great experience. If you weren’t, that’s too bad. You missed out on something good. In a world in which people are becoming more and more isolated, it’s great to experience oneness with many others. It’s uplifting to be in a group of people and know that every one is a brother or sister of yours. In a world in which people com- pete with each other more and more, it was an affirming experi- ence to be in a group of people where we didn’t compete with each other. Instead, we looked for what we shared in common. This is how God intends it to be within the Body. of Christ,’ the Church. And that can be your ex- perience, even if you missed our this past week, You can experience that same oneness and fellowship in the local congregation in a worship service. The first production was Father of the Bride directed by Loreen McColl, for a home Terrace Little Theatre bas bad many ups and downs, but has always remained a strong cultural force in the Terrace community. It survived two fires in two communities centres, both times losing its entire stock or coslumes, lights and props.
