CP Transport 1375 Kingsway Avenue Port Coquitlam, B.C. V3C 4W1. October 29, 1982 SUBMISSION TO THE PORT COQUITLAM CITY COUNCIL WITH RESPECT TO THE NOTICE DISTRIBUTED CONCERNING THE PROHIBITION OF TRUCK TRAFFIC ON THE KINGSWAY BRIDGE ROUTE First, we should like to make it very clear that we appreciate the problem facing the Council with the collapse of the Red Bridge and the inordinate amount of vehicular traffic this has placed on the Kingsway Bridge. In the event all members of Council are not aware of it, we moved to our premises at 1375 Kingsway Avenue in early March of this year. Approximately 85 per cent of our trucks have been using the Kingsway Bridge and we have experienced no problems with other vehicular traffic using this bridge, even though it is a one-way bridge when trucks or buses occupy it, nor have we received one complaint from anyone with respect to our use of this bridge. : Being located on Kingsway we are well aware of the fact. that it is the traffic going to and from the Maple Ridge area that is causing the heavy traffic tie-ups over the Kingsway Bridge now that the Red Bridge is out of service. We appreciate that this traffic, along with the trucks from companies located in Port Coquitlam causes traffic problems for Port Coquitlam residents using their personal. automobiles in the area. We have already performed tests with our trucks going the Kingsway Avenue route, versus the Lougheed Highway route since the Red Bridge has been out of service and have determined that our additional daily cost of using the Lougheed Highway will be about $1,000.00.
