2 THE VOLUNTEERS... => 2006 PAULINE CLOUTIER 2007 BERTHE MICHAUD 2005 PETER CUNNINGHAM The Maple Sugar Festival du Sucre d'Erable is blessed. Now in its 8th year, it can boast a long list of names that guarantee its success. That list carries the title of VOLUNTEERS. 4 Just like the industrious maple tree starting its production of starts in the early Fall. Our volunteers come back year after year, eagerly awaiting the arrival of the huge list of tasks that require attention. With more than 240 dedicated volunteers asking 'How Can I He/p?', our Volunteer team leaders have to be! _on their toes from the get-go. Committees are formed, leaders are chosen, lists are handed out, “And then .... they're offff!” HOW CAN WE POSSIBLY THANK THESE PEOPLE? These volunteers are folks who believe in a celebration of culture, know the importance of a community festival, understand that Nanaimo was not built in a day (nor by just one person!). The AEN salutes its year round volunteers also, as they are the link in that long chain of commitment that holds the festival together so solidly.. For many, the most touching scene at the festival is seeing our young adults and teens cleaning tables, picking up garbage, giving out programs, giving out directions, and rolling maple syrup on snow...they are the guarantee of the festival's future. These young ones are buildin a legacy of their own, and we are proud of them all.
