SUBJECT: Bylaw No. 2105 = Found and Animal Regulation Bylaw Amendment

RECOMMENDATION:

That City Counci! adopt the draft Byiaw 2105 amending the axisting Pound
and Anima! Regulation Bylaw.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:

A draft copy of Bylaw Noe 2105 Is attached to this memc. The propased
amendment to the Pound and Animal Regulation Bylaw was Initiated by Alderman Gates
who kas received complaints from local residents regarding other peoples! dogs
leaving feces on their property.

Although some municipal lties have enacted bylaws dealing with this
problem, the City's current bylaws do not require dog owners to clean up and
properly dispose of their dog's feces deposited on City streets, other public and
private properties, The proposed bylaw amendment wl! | correct thls omission .
Also, by enforcing the provisions of this bylaw amendment, when It becomes
necessary, the City will be offering some comfort to those facing this problem with

other people's dogs. .¢
