April 14th, 1975 Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That the City's Fire Regulation By-law be amended to permit "back~ yard" burning annually on the first two weekends in April. Defeated. Aldermen Laking, Ranger and Traboulay voted in favour of the resolution. Mayor Campbell, and Aldermen Keryluk and Mabbett voted against the resolution. Prior to defeat of the foregoing resolution, Alderman Mabbett stated he felt back~yard burning should be permitted, but at the discretion of the Fire Chief. Carried. From the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to SPCA-Mar/75 Report Animals, March 27th, 1975, being the March, 1975 service report of the pound operation. The report was received for information. REPORTS: From Alderman P.F. Ranger, April 9th, 1975, stating his concern Ald. Ranger re traffic } about the continuing problem of speeding vehicles on Western Drive, and problem- Western Dr. suggesting a possible solution may be the re-routing of traffic to Mary Hill Road by way of Thea. Alderman Ranger, in his report, advised that his suggestion is presented at this time as a "Notice of Motion" and will be formally made the following week; thus giving the Council time to examine it carefully before bringing it to a vote. Alderman Trabenlay inquired whether there will be a preliminary study made of the traffic problem on Western Drive, and Alderman Ranger advised that one is presently underway. From the Community Development Com-ittee, April 10th, 1975, referring Comm.Dev. Comm. re to the fact that when a parcel of park land lying between Fox and Lancaster City land- | bet.Fox & Streets was purchased, it was agreed that the City-owned 33-foot lots Lancaster Sts. adjacent thereto would be offered for sale, and advising that the Committee has determined there is approximately $20,000.00 to be spent in completing the servicing for these sites before they are offered for sale.
