A member of the Australian Eureka Youth League from Mel- bourne who is now living in Can- ada presented Robeson with a boomerang as a momento from his organization. “I want to say hello to my Aus- tralian friends,” said Robeson. “Many of their athletes are doing well in the Games.” He express- ed his appreciation for the hun- dreds of letters and a thousands- strong petition received from Australia in support of his cam- paign to get a passport. Robeson was in fine fighting trim as he sang and spoke to the huge crowd that spilled across the sun-drenched bowl in every direc- tion from the chalk-white columns of the Peace Arch.
