Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That the report of the Finance Committee, June 12th, 1979 and June 19th, 1979 being Statements of Accounts Payable in the amount of $540,287.27 and $253,431.86, respectively, be approved. Carried. From Alderman E.W. Mabbett, June 14th, 1979 advising receipt of a petition from citizens of Port Coquitlam and the immediate periphery of Coquitlam regarding the banging of rail cars by C.P. Rail and recommending that the petition be given Council support and forwarded to the Canadian Transport Commission with copies to be forwarded to Mr. Mark Rose, M.P. requesting his assistance in this matter. Alderman Traboulay requested that copies also be forwarded to C.P. Rail, to the Greater Vancouver Regional District, and to the District of Coquitlam. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Ranger: That as recommended by Alderman E.W. Mabbetct, June 14th, 1979 the petition from citizens of Port Coquitlam and the immediate periphery of Coquitlam regarding C.P. Rail noise pollution and railroad crossing blockages be given Council's support and be forwarded to the Canadian Transport Commission. Carried. Alderman Keryluk advised he had received inquiries as to the number of rail cars, carrying volatile material, in the C.P, Rail yards at one time, and asked that the Building and Protection Committee do an onsite inspection and bring a report back to Council. Moved by Alderman Keryluk: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the Building and Protection Committee do an onsite inspection of the C.P. Rail yards to determine how many rail cars containing volatile material. are stored in the yards at one time, and bring a report back te Council. Defeated.
