a spcosiboie OREM Maes ERATED Mayor and Council : February 3, 1975 FROM: _L.D. Pollock, City Administrator RE: 1975 Union Contract This is further to ny report to Council "In Committee" and subsequent discussions with Council regarding the 1975 Union Contract, which is now presented to Council for ratification. . There are, basically very few differences in 1975 over “the 1974 Contract. “The major changes. being in the wage schedules and improvement in holiday benefits. These are the enly two major. cost items. “The Contract provides. for a 12. adjustment: in all rates for inside and outside staff to correspond with the 1% increase given retroactively to all Lower Mainland Munici- palities for 1974. This 1% will not be paid retroactively to our employees but will be incorporated in the overall wage schedules. In. addition to this adjustment the contract provides for an increase of 19% across the board: for all: outside. workers and -15.6% across the board for inside employees. In addition there are adjustments to certain inside pay scales to bring them into line with Vancouver/Burnaby rates. The improved holidays are as follows: | ~ 1974 Contract 1975 Contract Proposal 3 weeks after 3 years 3 weeks after 1 year 4 weeks after 11 years _ 4 weeks after 9 years 5 weeks after 18 years . 5 weeks after 16 years In 20th year and thereafter 1 additional day per year to maximum of 6 weeks in 24th year, Other wording changes in the Contract include the following: - Removal of the provision covering time durated employees. This was included in the last contract that was negotiated and did not prove to be too successful. - Elimination of Schedule "C" employees. These were the Recreation Centre employee categories and these are now to be classified under certain outside categories that exist in the contract. eee/2
