May 15th, 1974 The Honourable Gracham Lea, Minister of tighuuys, Parthament Bulidings, Victoria, B.C. Dear Sir: Re our meeting - I would Like to bring up the following points: ~Mayor Tonn and I ane in totad agaecement that elther an overpass of an adult patrol be put at Pipeline Road and the Lougheed Highway, but we also are Ln com- plexe agreurent that the funding for tis must come from your Government. 1 notice you are in favour of adult patrols and we are very agrecable to this suggestion. This should become the rssponsidivity of the Verarktment of Education and I do hope that tits can be sotved before sehoo£ opening in September. ~1 would also potnd out the need for a patrog at Hastings and the Lougheed. Pazents have ofered to patrol it unti£ the end of June, but expect this function to be taken oven in Septenbenr, T agree with you that crosswalks are dangerous and have been advocating tnein removal in the City. T am 4a complete agreement with your suggestion that the highway Locations be taken over by the Regtonad District but I would hope that the GURD do not budéd up a urge siaks for this function and merely sLow down the process. We are havdng a pioblun of student crossing at PLtt River Road and Mclean. The Couneid dave passed a motion to insgta2£ a pedestrian-cperated Light there and would Like to knew 46 you wi2l partictyate. They would possibly reconsider af you would assist ginanctally dt an adult patiol because 1 am agnadd that a Light may hold up traffic. . T want to thank you for this meeting and I found dt most enlightening. I whl expect to hear about the thning on the road system dn the very near future, Yours very trinly, J. M. Campbett, Mayor.
