CANADIAN CLAY Plans are currently underway for Canadian Clay, a ceramic sym- posium planned for March 25, 2000 at the Shadbolt Centre forthe Arts which is co-producing the event, An organizing commiltee comprised of representatives and interested partics from vanous guilds, Emily Carr Institute and the Shadbolt Centre have been mecting over the past few months to finalize presenters, format and other details. The symposium is intended to attract and benefit pot- ters throughout British Columbia, with profits placed in a fund to provide and enhance future events. For the first year, the committee is asking for funding support from provincial potters’ guilds. Your contributions by supporting a pre- senter, promoting the event through your local newsletter and providing volunteer assistance are appreciated. Call Cathi Jefferson for details at 604-929-9175. make your mark in history The Guild and Gallery are beginning an on-going project collecting stamps, beographical, technical and other relevant information about British Columbian clayworkers, A directory of stamps and complementary information about individual potters will allow the Guild to serve you better by providing information to educators, collectors, other potters, guilds and the general public, You supply the information that you want used toexplain and show your work; the Guild collates iLand makes it available on request. Information can be updated and changed anytime, you are requested to keep it current. Please use a binder-sized 8 1/2 x 11" sheet of paper and include but not limit yourself to the following: * Name * Address and telephone number where you can be reached to clarify any detail. Do you want your telephone and address made available? * Location of your production if different from the above. Do you want this information mike available? * Large renditions of any identifying marks used on clay pieces. Please draw pictures of stumps or signs atleast 1 1/2 1 1/2". If you use a signature please include: it. * A few descriptive lines aboul your work including current as well as past work. Advertising brochures are welcome. The project is not limited to those in the Gallery or just in the Guild. It is a resource about all British Columbian potters, those actively working as well as those who have ceased. There is no deadline; the Guild anticipates an on-going collection of data.
