News from parents committees

Chilliwack

Here also parents are working hard on the quality of
education. They are preparing their incorporation. The
Fourth-Graders went to Victoria and visited the Museum.
On June 28, last day of school, a BBQ is organized in the
evening. About 20 children will go and sing for Canada
Day Show.

We take this opportunity to thank Michael Audet, director
of Ecole La Vérendrye and wish him success in his new
endeavours.

Delta
Here too some of the children went to Kamloops to
participate to Les jeux francophones. The pupils from
Grade 7 of Richardson School had a camp at Squeah end
of May. The famous BBQ is scheduled on June 23. Do not
forget your water-guns!

Mission
Programme cadre will officially open next September with
two classes and 21 pupils. Bravo! Carry on!

Budget cuts from the school board are a blow and parents
and teachers are combining their efforts to reverse the
decision. Children from Quebec came in May through an
exchange program with K.B. Woodward. The annual
picnic will be at Bear Creek Park on June 17. Come and
join!

White Rock
Children from White Rock Elementary will visit their
friends from K.B. Woodward. A camp have also been
organized for them. For St-Jean Baptiste the preschool
organizes some activities.

Campbell River

Parents are promoting their Programme cadre very
efficiently. They have started recruiting in the
commercial mall where they erected an information outlet.
They are also planning a bicycle ride on Quadra Island.
The baseball francophone league is on the track. Well
done!

Saanich

The school district superintendent has declared that :”’the
set up of Programme cadre in September 1994 was now
only a question of finalizing formalities”. There is nothing
more to say. Hat off to your perseverance!

Victoria

It is official, Brodeur School will get its accreditation in
June 1994. This year funds raising allowed parents to buy
new equipment for the computer room and to buy earthquake
kits for each class.

Nanaimo

The Parents Committee is planning to organize funds
raising with casino and bingo for next year. Secondary
pupils will be offered two courses next year: French and
Social Studies.

Port Alberni

Some parents are talented writers! It has been proved in the
local newspaper with a promotional clip for Programme
cadre. The children enjoyed their outing to La féte
colombienne des enfants. The children also were brilliant
at Concours d’Art Oratoire.
