Iam pleased to extend warm greetings
to everyone participating in the 7th
Annual Maple Sugar Festival.

This celebration is an opportunity for
the whole family to taste the full range of
maple products, served up the old-
fashioned way, and to enjoy the festive
traditions of Eastern Canada, which go
hand-in-hand with sampling these tasty
treats. Performances by Francophone

artists, sleigh rides, and ice sculpture demonstrations are just some

of the many activities planned over these five fun-filled days.

On behalf of the Government of Canada, I congratulate the
organizers and the many volunteers who make this event such a
success. I wish all of you a most enjoyable Festival.

of Nanaimo has prepared an excellent |

| ment with performances by talented comedians and musicians, as
| well as art exhibits, authentic French Canadian foods and ice |
| carving demonstrations, will make this year’s festival enjoyable |
| for all.

It gives me great pleasure to extend a warm

organizers involved in the Seventh annual Maple
Sugar Festival du Sucre d’Erable to be held in

| February, 2007. This year we look forward to

another stellar line up of over 70 Canadian
regional and national performing artists.

This annual February event in Nanaimo
has gained a reputation for attracting not
only the francophone community, but also
the Anglophone community from throughout
Vancouver Island and the lower Mainland of BC: Within a community
offering a large choice of festivals and events, the Maple Sugar
Festival du Sucre d’Erable is now enthusiastically anticipated by
participating school groups and our residents and visitors who enjoy
the Canadian entertainment showcase during the week long festival.

On behalf of the citizens of Nanaimo and City Council, | wish the
L’Association des francophones de Nanaimo another successful year |
and we look forward to new plans to expand the Maple Sugar Festival
in the years leading up to the 2010 Olympics and Paralympics.
