The work that would be done by the consultant for
these fees includes engineering design, preparation of contract
documents, tender call and evaluation of tenders, engineering
and inspection during construction, and preparation of as-built
drawings and operating manuals. In addition, beth consultants
have agreed to supply a set of contract drawings for the Laurier
Avenue pumping station for our use at some future date, with
cost to be included within the queted prices.

Tt should be understood by Council that the estimated
costs which are quoted by these proposals are not tendered prices.
The actual costs, based on actual time spent, could be highor or
lower. It should also be noted that these estimates are consid-
erably higher than our own initial estimate of engineering costs
which were calculated at about $23,000 or 10% of the estimated
construction price.

The Comnittee recommends that Associated Engineering
Services Ltd, be hired to complete the engineering, tendering,
field inspection, and ose-built services.

Re: Provision of Standby Power Generators

Council had requested consideration of the provision
Of diesel powcred emergency generators in each of the pumping
stations. The estimated cost of a gencrator large enough to
operate the 150 h.p. meters involved with the larger pumps
would cost iu the order of $20,000 to $25,000 for each pumping
station. Alternatively, a smaller ganorator suitable for
operating the smaller pump in each pumping station is available
from our old sewage pumping station and can be mounted on the
trailer ead used asa a portable generator. The sewer utility
budget already contains an amount fer the provision of this
portable generator,

The Committee recommends that the portable generator
be provided as a standby In the event of power failure in any
of the pumping stations but that we do net provide permanent
auxilijary generators in each pumping station.

Couneil had also roquested the inelasien of an alarm
system in the sew pumping stations. The Committee reeommends
thet thin be provided in condunetion with the design of the
Facilities, Estimated additional costs are not more than $2,099
or $3,000.
