THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM COUNCH MEMORANDUM NOY 19 1979 TO: Mayor and Council November 10th, 1979 FROM: Alderman E.W. Mabbett Re: Taxi Service. During this election period, we get more of an opportunity to discuss personal local problems with the electorate. In this regard the problem of very poor taxi service has come up on a number of occasions. It is my understanding the local. operator has the.only.license to operate in this City; and if so we must meet with the owner and see what seems to be the problem. Two most recent complaints for example, a party of four booked a taxi the day prior to. the requirement of an early morning trip to the airport; the time arrived and no taxi, after two phone calls where the attitude was sorry but no driver; (airplanes don't wait) they telephoned New Westminster and finally convinced the taxi firm to come out and pick them up. + The other one, a man tried to no avail to speed them up to get his ailing wife to t hospital, but had to resort to neighbors. e Our citizens don't have to put up with this type of service’, when we control the licensing. Respectfully submitted, E.W. Mabbett ‘ Alderman EWM/dv he
