10:15 p.m. Ald. Thompson left Chamber. Pub.Wks. Comm. re Chester/ Shaughnessy parking reg. Leisure Act. Comm. re School Swim Prog.- ' Robert Hope * Pool March 21st, 1977 subdivided. Mr. Bob Laurie, representing the applicant,was in attendance and was invited to address the Council. Mr. Laurie advised that the portion to be subdivided included a large triangular section of B.C. Hydro Right-of-Way which severely limited the use of that portion of. the parcel and it was considered that if this section were eliminated, it would enhance the salability of the remainder of the parcel for heavy ‘industrial use. Mr. Laurie introduced Mr. Bill Blaney, owner of Inter- City Express, the company interested in the 3.8 acre site. Mr. Blaney indicated that the mobility of the vehicles in his business would permit him to comply with the Hydro Right-of-Way use restrictions which prohibited any permanent storage or parking of vehicles, and it would, therefore, utilize the property effectively. There would be no added traffic congestion created as property access had been discussed with the City Engineer. A brief discussion ensued regarding other possible uses of the property. Moved by Alderman Keryluk: Seconded by Alderman Ranger: That further discussion of the Rezoning Application R#3/77 (Dawson Construction Ltd.) be tabled for two weeks. Carried. Aldermen Laking and Traboulay voted against the resolution. Alderman Thompson vacated his seat and left the Council Chamber at 10:15 p.m. From the Public Works Committee, March 18th, 1977 concerning a request from Superior Signs Ltd. regarding a change in the two hour parking regulations on Chester Street, advising that due. to the impending closure of Coquitlam Avenue at the Lougheed, overall changes will result in the near future. The report was then received for information. From the Leisure Activities Committee, March 18th, 1977 regarding the Robert Hope Pool - School Board Swim Programme and recommending that the Recreation Department proceed with a four week programme at a cost of $2.75 per student. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That the recommendation of the Leisure Activities Committee, March 18th, 1977 with respect to the Recreation Department proceeding with a four week School Board Swim Programme at Robert Hope Pool at a cost of $2.75 per student, be approved. Carried.
