In total, five home- town teams captured me- dals, surpassing last year’s mark of three. The aclion kicked off on Aug. 5 and from the word go, teams here began taking it to their op- ponents. Two Terrace teams shut out their opponents 8-0 on opening day. The under 14 girls beat Smi- thers, and the under 11 boys knocked off Ketchi- kan, Alaska. The Terrace Dragons under 12 boys also hand- ily beat Prince Rupert 7-1 on opening day — a sign of things to come for them. ; On day two, the suc- cess story continued with the under 14 boys crush- ing Bulkley Valley 6-1, and the boys’ Dragons’ demolishing the Bulldogs from Quesnel, 13-1. The under 13 boys, who ranked on the bol- tom of the round robin standings came back strong in.the playoffs, up- setting third place Kitimat to capture the bronze medal. The under 13 girls, powered by two key vic- tories over Smithers on day, captured bronze. The under 14 boys and girls both won gold with playoff victories over Smithers and Kiti- mat respectively. The Terrace Dragons scored 35 goals over their five games to win bronze in the under 13 boys.
