March 2ist, 1977 Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That a letter be written to the Board of School Trustees of School District No.43 (Coquitlam) expressing the opposition of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam to the concept of extended day programming in senior secondary schools. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, a further discussion ensued during which the Alderman Laking agreed that there was a definite problem with youth on the extended day programmes and that the City of Port Moody was experiencing a similar problem to that occurring in the City. School Trustees Bev LeFrancois and Jackie Boyer were also in attendance at the meeting and were invited to add their comments to the discussion. Mrs. LeFrancois indicated that during her term to date as Trustee, she had not received any comments in favour of the programme from any of the parents with whom she had discussed the subject. Mrs. Boyer felt she could speak only as an individual as she did not have access to all of the information presented to the Board prior to her taking a seat on the Board, however, although she could see some evidence of a problem on the Northside, she had not received any specific complaints regarding the programme from parents. The Council then dealt with the following resolution: Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That the foregoing resolution be deferred pending the receipt of further information from the School Board.
