bear

- A teddy bear can put a
Smile on any child’s face
— especially if they are
scared or confused.

Thanks to the Terrace
liquor store’s Twin Bear
Program, the Terrace
Victim Assistance pro-
giam received 20 teddy
bears just in time for
Christmas,

**Christmas is a time for -

children,’ said Jan
Lefrancois, coordinator of

the Victim Assistance
program.

“‘When children or any-
one else has traumatic
things happen to them,
it’s always a lot more in-
tense because of the holi-
days.”? That’s because
they will likely associate
Christmas with trauma,
explained Lefrancois.

Workers at the Victims
Assistance Program act as
liaisons between the com-
munity and the police.
They also provide in-
formation and guide vic-

tims to resources they
may not have access to
otherwise.

**We deal with the emo-
tional impact of trauma
and violence,’* _— said
Lefrancois.

“It’s helpful to have
something soft to give
kids — they can find a bit
of security in the bear.’’

Each year the liquor
store donates the bears to
various charities and or-
ganizations.

Customers purchase a
bear for just $10, then the
