From the Planning and Zoning Committee, July 24th, 1975 re an re strata title e appln. for application for strata title approval for an existing duplex at 1917- 1917-19 Coq. Ave. (SS#9-75) 1919 Coquitlam Avenue and a recommendation that approval be granted. Moved by Alderman Thompson: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That as recommended in a report of the Planning and Zoning Committee, July 24th, 1975, the application for strata title approval for an existing duplex at 1917-1919 Coquitlam Avenue (Ss#9-75) be granted. Defeated, Mayor Campbell voted in favour of the resolution. Prior to passage of the above resolution Aldeman Thompson questioned the reason for the conversion from a rental unit. The Owner was present at the meeting and stated that he had several enquiries for the purchase of one-half of the unit but was unable to sell the unit as a whole. Alderman Traboulay noted that in Past applications of this kind, the prime reason for conversion was an attempt to provide more affordable housing for those wishing to buy a home, whereas the proposed selling price of these units would not be any less than a single family unit of comparable size presently on the market. Mayor Campbell questioned the reason for this application being presented to Council if this was a new structure and was advised by the Administration that as the intention to strata title had not been indicated at the time the building permit was applied for, it must be treated as a conversion under the Strata Titles Act. ltibeesy wees, From Alderman G.R.
