From: Parks & Recreation Coumittee Item One: Request from Port Coquitlam Kinsmen Club to hold a Bavarian Garden on Aggie Park on July ist, 1972 during the July 1st, 1972 Sports Carnival. Comments: It was pointed out that the Port Coquitlam Amateur Athletic Association also was interested in staging a Bavarian Garden for fund raising. It was suggested that possibly the Port Coquitlam Amateur Athletic Association can stage their project on May Day or some other occasion. | Reconmendution: That the Port Coquitlam Kinsmen Club be allowed to hold a Bavarian Garden on Aggie Park during the 1972 July 1st Sport Carnival. Item Two: Provisional Budget - 1972 The Committee again discussed the Budget at length with intent to reduce it wherever possibile. After an in depth discussion the Committee resolved that an objective meticd of reduction should be the only precedure to be used. Consequently any Budget reduction should be related directly to the reduction of a programme end rot an arbi~ trary monetary cut that may affect the calibre of a given programme. The Committee unanimously agreed that summer programmes in the parks were multi~beneficial, (1) Programming the parks reduced vandalisn. (2) Prevented rowdyisnm. (3) Discouraged bullies from "taking over" the park from other users. (4) In general, therefore, reduced maintenance caused by vandalism. (S) Also that the development of facilities indicuted to the public that they would be programmed. The Committee agreed fo reduce the capital out of Revenue Budget by forty percent.
