Bud Allardyce of the WCB at Nelson also praised the team and said that “it was seven years ago that he first tried to get the lumber industry in- terested in the Safety or First- Aid Competitions” and that this was a culmination of the’ efforts which, in such a short time, brought the team right to the top in the Provincial competitions. Paul Woykin, coach of the team, also had great praise for the men who madeit up, and he then showed a number Of slides of the competition at Kamloops. A FIRST AID TEAM : JS TOP B.C. Government statistics show that the top 20 per cent of in- come earners walk away with no less than half of all income. But the bottom 20 per cent get only 2 per cent. One of five Canadian women is supported in some way by public funds, but only one of ten men is. What’s that about equality? Worse still — of the bottom 20 per cent of wage earners, no less than 64 per cent are women. But 92 per cent of the upper one-fifth are men. Average family income in 1971 was $10,368.
