January 6, 1989 City Hall 2580 Shaughnessy Street Port Coquitlam, B.C. Attention: Tony Chong Traffic Committee Dear Sirs Re Salisbury Avenue East of Viscount School We are writing this letter In order to bring to your attention the problems arising on Sallsbury Avenue, Port Coquitiam, B.C. (east of Viscount School). We provide the following information: The 1900 biock of Salisbury Avenue is a dead end street with a sign posted "dead end street" at the entrance to the street. There are also "no parking signs" pe ted along both sides of the street. , The problems we are facing !s that there are a number of people driving thelr children to school and using this narrow street in order to drive thelr children right to the chain fence located on the school grounds. The Principal of Viscount Alexander School, Mr. James McNamee, is quite aware of these continuing. problems we face and has on a regular basis forwarded notices home with the chiidren for the parents to read regarding drop off and pick up on this. street (attached is a copy of a recent notice from Viscount School regarding this problem). A few of the parents have also stopped the drivers entering this street to drop off their chiidren to fet them know that they are not allowed to drive down this street and some have simply stated that they did not Know and others used foul language. A few of the parents have also given out coptes of the attached notice from Viscount School to the drivers and have been met with the same statements referred to above. The drivers may elect not to drive down this street for a few. weeks now, however we notice that a few weeks later other drivers or the same drivers then are careless again and continue thelr drop off and pick up on this street. We fee! that untess something is done to prevent this from happening this will be a continued problem throughout the year and the years ahead. .
