Capilano College: Clay & Textile Arts, a two year diploma program,

A foundation year is followed by a second year during which students
specialize in Clay or Textile Arts. The clay program offers

courses in functional ware during which improved throwing techniques
are emphasized, Glaze theory is given strong emphasis. Instructor
is Donna McLaren. A course in Ceramic Sculpture will introduce
students to the issues and aesthetic expressions particular to
ceramic sculpture. Technical and craftsmanship skills will be em-
phasized with both fireable and non-fireable techniques, Instructor
will be James Thornsbury.

The 13th Biennial Conference of the Association of Northwest Weavers
Guilds, June 2l - 27, 1907 will be held at 0.8.0. A gathering of
almost 1000 weavers and spinners including ones from all western
states, Alaska, Hawaii, Australia, England, New Zealand and hew
Guinea, The juried show “Personal Expressions" will be at the Asian
Centre at U.B.C. Thurs. & Fri. 10 to §, Sat. 10130 = 1100 p.m,

P.8,8.C. members: Gillian McMillan entered a carved Chun glazed
porcelain jar in the New Westminster/Burnaby juried art show
"Images "87", Her piece was one of six artworks selected to be
exhibited at the upcoming provincial show "Images 4 Objects" at
Duncan, B.C, Brent Gloeckler had two pieces selected from Images
also.

CONGRATULATIONS to Carole Sabiston Fabric Artist, she has been awarded the

saieve Bronfman Award for Excellence in Craft
