Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, it was pointed out _that at meetings previously held with the businessmen and property owners concerned, the majority were in favour of the design plans for the Lougheed Highway; also, that the raised median ensures against interruptions in the movement of traffic caused by highway crossings; however, it was generally agreed that a decision should not be made unless all members of Council are present, and the following motion was then proposed: Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That a decision on the foregoing resolution concerning changes to the median and intersections on the Lougheed Highway as designed and constructed be deferred to a forthcoming meeting at which all members of Council will be present. Carried. Alderman Mabbett voted against the resolution. From the Public Works Committee, August 19th, 1977, recommending P/Wks.Comm.re , lane closure-' that, as a sidewalk constructed by the Ministry of Highways and Public $.Fraser Ave. : from Flint to Works on the East side of Shaughnessy Street North of the Luugheed Shaughnessy Highway has blocked off access to the lane South of Fraser Avenue from Flint to Shaughnessy, that the subject lane be closed at Shaughnessy and that a turn-around be constructed at that point.
