THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM June 22, 1977. TO: MAYOR AND COUNCIL C 0 U N FROM: LEISURE ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE | JUN 27 1977 ITEM I : FENCES AROUND RESIDENTIAL SWIMMING POOLS. Council requested that the Committee look into the question of whether existing pool fences should be upgraded to conform to the proposed 6' height. The Committee feels that present fences should not be required to conform for the following reasons: 1. Council does not require conformity to by-laws which they presently nass; in fact such items become non-conforming (as would a 4' fence). Therefore, by requiring all fences to conform to 6', this would set a nrecedent which Council would have to follow in other by~laws. 2. It would be a hardship on present pool owners of 4' fences because they would more than likely have to tear down the fence and rebuild a brand new 6' fence which might be financially impossible. Or the other solution might be te add to the present fence which would be aesthetically unappealling. ITEM II: 1977/1978 ICE SCHEDULE. - please see attached information. The Committee met with representatives of the different ice users on Monday, June 20th, 1977. The Committee recommends that the attached schedule be adopted. ITEM ITIt: 1977/1078 ICE RATES. The Committee recommends that the present rates be increased by 8%: 1976/1977 Rates Increase 1977/1978 Recommended MINOR ORGANIZATIONS (M.H., R.H., F.S., G.H.) Prime Time - $17. 50 $19.00 NonPrime Time - 16. 25 17. 50 Commercial Organizations and Old Timers 3. 50 $36. 00 ITEM IV: PRIME TIME AND NON PRIME TIME. There was discussion. with the organizations in that they wished prime time to be changed from 12:00 noon - 12:00 midnight to 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and non prime time from 12:00 midnight - 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. — 8:00 a.m. The Committee feels that there is no great revenue lost by making such a change. (Please see attached information.) The Committee recommends that prime time be 8:00 a.m. ~ 8:00 p.m. and non- prime time be from 8:00 p.m. ~ 8:00 a.m. Resrgctfully syomipeed, JIT/£m
