July 22nd, 1974 two municipalities in School District #43 are paying for their own patrols. The Jetter also pointed out that they understood that Legislatior was being considered Provincially to provide such patrols and the Association asked for clarification and assurance that some action would be taken before school opening in September. A memorandum was also considered from Alderman P.F. Ranger, July 22, 1974 relating to this subject and listing several points that need clarifi- cation from the Provincial Government as follows: 1. What agency will hire personnel, Provincial Government, School Board or Municipal Government? What agency will pay for guards, or will it be on a cost sharing basis? Who will determine where and when Adult Safety Patrols are needed? What will the qualifications of personnel be? addition the report recommended that the City of Fort Coquitlam make avail- able one of our By-law Enforcement Officers for duty in patrolling this inter- section until such times as the points are clarified by the Provincial Govern ment. Alderman Traboulay recommended that the Administration make arrangements to hire staff tor an Adult Patrol to be available for September 3rd school opening and pointed out that there would be time required to train personnel for this job. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Thompson: That the report of Alderman Ranger dated July 22, 1974 in connection with Adult Safety Patrols on arterial highways be adopted. Carried. Alderman Traboulay voted against the resolution. REPORTS: From the Building and Protection Committee, July 11, 1974, concerning Bld.&Protec. Com. re ambulance service and pointing out that the Committee had reviewed reports Ambulance Service from the Fire Chief dated July 10, 1974 and the City Administrator dated July 2, 1974 outlining some of the details with respect to the operation of ambulance service by the Provincial Government. The Committee recommended that the reports be accepted and that the Provincial Government be notified that we are not satisfied with their proposal for this area: 1. We feel that our present emergency vehicles continuing as ambulances and a necessary service to the community will quite possibly cause a conflict between the new Provincial ambulance limited service and our present Fire Department Employees.
