January: 28th, 1974 /5, Prior to passage of the resolution stated above, Alderman Traboulay expressed his opposition to the construction of strata title units in the City at a time when rental housing was ‘in such short supply and he stated his view that a housing stock. for lower income families should be provided on a subsidized basis if necessary. Alderman Laking stated that in his ‘opinion it was not fair to simply require that all apartments be rented, as Alderman Traboulay seemed to be proposing, but that this view should extend to houses and other forms of accommodation as: well, Alderman Keryluk stated that it was apparent from the report of the Planning & Zoning Commit~ tee that if strata title type of development was not approved, then the building would not be constructed and he stated his view that it was better to have 15 strata title units than have no units at all constructed. Alderman Ranger advised that the question of subsidization of rentals raised by Alderman Traboulay was a matter for the Federal and Provincial Governments to consider. From the Health Committee, January 24th, 1974, advising that the Committee Health Com re excess ~ costs Coq. & Dist.Hos pital Soc. ~planning phase-Hosp Program "had considered ‘a letter from the Coquitlam Hospital Society requesting that the Counc il budget funds for the Society to assist in expenses during the planning stage of the: Coquitlan Hospital construction, and that this request is also being forwarded to Coquitlam, Port, Moody ai 4 to Electoral Area B representatives.
