The minutes for the November 3. 1993 Committee meeting were considered, read and

adopted.

The Committee discussed the Recycling Logo Contest winner prior to the first item.

The report prepared by the Project Teclmician was presented. Following
the
reconunendations as presented were approved. In addition, it was recommended discussion
that
contact
be
made with the various envirotunental clubs of junior and senior high schools and interested
teachers in the elementary schools in Port Coquitlam, with an offer to hold a workshop on
project. The Engineering Department will pursue this proposal. Present recommendationsthis
to
Council for approval.

Care Organiration and the request. Ms. Lee recominended that she contact the Social
Development Council of District ¹43 and request that they attend the next E.P.C. meeting.
This
item was deferred until a delegation from the Social Development Council appears
before E.P.C.

The Project Engineer reported on the recycling logo contest winner and recommended that a

presentation be made at the next suitable Council meeting. Arra igements to be made with the
Clerks Department. A report outlinhig the City's composting program is to be prepared and
presented at that time. Project Engineer left meeting following this item.

b) A~At fnapp Christmas Tree Recvclina Program - Citv Contribution

It w' noted this issue was discussed at the regular Council meeting held November 15, 1993
and received for information. The Project Technician outlined the request and indicated that the
City hss supported this program in the past. Following discussion it was recommended the
Conunittee approve the request and forward the appropriate memo to City Council.

This item deferred until the new 1994 Environmental Protection Committee is appointed. To be
presented to the new Committee for consideration.
