City Administrator Susan Rauh City Clerk Freedom of Infomation and Protection of Privacy Act That "Freedom of Information Bylaw, 1994, No. 2950", attached to Council Agenda, be given First Three Readings. The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act will give individuals new rights to access information held by local governments and will protect their privacy by placing restrictions on local governments when collecting, using, or disclosing personal information. | In part it will require local governments to: a) Set up policies and procedures to deal with requests for access to information and releasing the information, as individuals will be able to ask for (but not necessarily receive) any information in the custody or under the control of the local government, b) Put into place measures to prevent personal information from being inappropriately disclosed; c) Make a personal information bank directory as well as a local government policies manual available to the Public without an individual making an information request, and d) Provide the Ministry of Government Services with information for the Provincial Directory of Records. The City is required to produce a Bylaw designating the "Head".
